Intimate Purlieus: The Diminutive Landscape and Contemporary Art

Works on Paper Gallery

March 16 - August 2004

This exhibition brings together the work of several contemporary artists who are engaged in the production of intimately scaled, often minutely detailed landscapes. Several of the artists represented open dialogue with nineteenth-century American landscape traditions yet ultimately invest their explorations of nature with early twenty-first century social and aesthetic concerns. Artists will include Debra Bermingham, Wendy Mark, Alison Moritsugu, Cynthia Knott, Michael De Jong, William Smith, Ken Kewley, Helen Miranda Wilson, and Matthew Northridge.
